Local Breastfeeding Support Team

Meet your local Breastfeeding Support Team

Jo Glossop - Infant Feeding Specialist

I qualified as a health visitor in 1992 and became interested in breastfeeding after I’d had my first baby in 2000, an experience that made me realise how important good breastfeeding support is for mums. I work for DCHS training staff in breastfeeding and supporting mums who are having problems with feeding. I recently qualified as a Lactation Consultant.

Gill McCavana - Infant Feeding Advisor/Volunteer Co-ordinator

I qualified as a nurse in 1993 and have worked in a variety of clinical nurse specialist jobs. My interest in breastfeeding started with the birth of my first baby in 2002, I have since had two more babies. My passion for supporting mums, and for ensuring that mums had access to information to make informed choices, led me to becoming a local volunteer breastfeeding peer supporter in Chesterfield.

Currently I work for DCHS part-time providing support to HV teams and Breastfeeding Support Workers. I work with the Children’s Centres to recruit and train volunteer breastfeeding peer supporters. In my spare time I am currently completing the Lactation Consultants Course.
