A smile from your child is precious. Looking after their teeth involves ensuring that they develop routines around brushing their teeth and that they have healthy eating habits that prevent the damage caused by tooth decay.

Who a parent/family member or professional should contact if they have a concern.

We advise the public to contact their own dental practice for advice and information. This is because the dentist will have individual Patient Care Plan for them and encourages the public to understand they need to register. For emergency dental out of hours, telephone 111.

How to register with a dentist

To find an NHS dentist we recommend NHS Choices website or telephone 0300 3112233.
